Fathers Continue To Teach Your Children
William Jackson, #MyQuestToTeach
Father, Mentor, Community Activist, Educator

Fathers, as the school year comes to a close continue to
teach your children to apply what they learned in school
so they can make learning relevant. Help them to apply the
academic lessons to think for themselves and make personal
choices that are positive. Even if their friends are opposite
and oppose them, one mistake can ruin and change a life for
a life time.

Fathers, teach your children to be accountable and responsible,
teach them to be independent thinkers and understand how
important their dreams are. There are many lessons to learn
so be patient and purposeful, be aware that sometimes your
children think different than you do and react different
depending on the situation and the stress.

Not all children learn to tie their shoes at the same time,
not all children stop sucking their fingers at the same
time. Patience, purpose and prayer do work even in the 21st
century.

Your presence as a parent, father guardian, mentor and
prayer do matter. Never forget that your children look to you
for guidance even if they do not say anything.
Actions speak louder than words, so guard not just your
mouth, but your actions and interactions in the community.

Some personal observations as a parent…….
1.Fathers don’t allow yourself and your children to grow stale
or stagnant, always embrace learning opportunities. Attend
community, civic and even political events to teach your
children civic duty and community activism.
2. Fathers teach your children to stay away from people who
hate on others, gossip, conspire against, plot and plan to
embarrass or even destroy. Those that hate on others often
have low self esteem and unhappy emotionally.
3. Fathers teach your children that sex is not a conquest
or a quick one sided pleasure. There are consequences and
reactions to having multiple sexual partners.
4. Father teach your children that sex is not a tool to get
what you want in life. That the mind and emotions are changed
forever when involved in sexual encounters with multiple
people. Not everyone is emotionally ready for sex at the
same time.
5. Fathers teach your children what comes out of their
mouths defines them and Brands them. The mouth can speak
life or death.
6. Fathers teach your daughters they don’t need a sugar
daddy, pimp daddy or friend with benefits to make it in life.
Teach them early that they are smart, creative, innovative
and brilliant.
7. Fathers teach your sons and daughters that before they get
into someone’s bed, be sure to get into their head. They must
have some common grounds for growth and life.
There is a personal responsibility when having sex and not
building a relationship.
8. Fathers teach your sons not to use women for sex, drugs,
money or create illegitimate children that they have no
plans to support and love. The children created will grow
to be angry, uncertain about who they are and where in life
they are going.
9. Fathers teach your children how to love, how to respect and
the value of morals and values. Teach your children the
empowerment of education not just in the classroom, but to
be life-long learners.
10. Fathers teach your children the dangers of “playing” with
drugs and alcohol. Not everyone can tolerate getting drunk
and getting high.
11. Fathers show up at your children’s school several times a
year, show them better than you can tell them you value
their education, respect teachers, eating lunch with them
and going on field trips.
12. Fathers if “Lives Matter” they should learn that from
birth and through your involvement and actions.
13. Fathers teach your children about the true meaning of
hate, racism, bigotry, prejudice and bias. Do not sugarcoat it.
Raise your child to be a benefit to society not a danger or
future media sacrifice.
14. Fathers teach your children they will not stay children
forever, as they grow to enjoy life and living. To learn
skills that build their character and value for life.
15. Fathers watch the news with your children
and explain events around the world. Get them to talk
about what they think and feel.
16. Fathers even if your not in the home plan to make time
and make time to plan what your doing.
17. Fathers even if you start with 10.00 start a bank account
for your child. Teach them to invest in themselves.
18. Fathers create a mindset of growth and progress.
Show your kids that you have dreams and aspirations
beyond where you are now. No matter your past you’re
reaching for a better life.
19. Fathers the future is not predictable, but have a plan
for the future for your kids. Start a college fund or a business
fund. Put money aside even if it is 5.00 per month because your
children will need to continue their education past high school.
20. Fathers visit a doctor if not regularly, occassionally. Be
proactive in your health because not knowing if you have
high blood pressur, diabetes, or any other life challenges may
create burdens on your family. Medical issues can keep you from
being the dad you want to be and the dad your kids need you
to be.
21. Fathers reflect on the hard lessons you learned and
share them with you children. Teach them that lessons can help
them to grow even if they stuggle.
22. Fathers teach your children that struggles and challenges
are a part of life and that they can survive and grow from
them.
23. Fathers teach your children the value of prayer, why
prayer is helpful. Guide their learning in ministry not
just attending church.
24. Fathers join a support group, mentoring group for yourself.

2017 Promoting PSTEAhM Learning During the Summer

2017 Promoting PSTEAhM Learning During the Summer
by William Jackson
Tristan’s Accelerated Academy, Inc.
PSTEAhM Camp Jacksonville, Florida

Summer learning is becoming increasingly valuable for
preparation for careers.
The summer is a perfect time to encourage applying learning
to everyday situations and building learning as fun. Applying
learning to real life experience to build relevancy and
connections. Applying math to help building a budget, reading
to build an appreciation for literacy and understanding
the value for comprehension. Art for diving into STEAM where
discovery can be enlightening and a drive towards careers.
Teaching children how to budget money early will allow for
them to process the value of money and build a respect
for work. Parents should use the summer to incorporate
STEAM into their children’s life and teaching children how
influential even in a small way STEAM is important.

Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics – STEAM
Teaching children and teens early will help them learn to
survive when there is no one around to give advice, it will
already be in them thinking creatively and being innovative
with their resources. Instead of telling children that money
does not grow on trees the summer should have been used to
show them by allowing them to practice saving and spending.
Provide a budget and some funds so it can be seen in a
realistic format. Children and teens need to be allowed
to shop, compare items and compare the cost helps to
understand the monetary responsibilities in feeding a
family; also helping children learn the sacrifices parents
make for even small things as prices fluctuate.

Children and teens perspectives are different when parents,
family and even summer camps teach how to manage money that
is not infinite, there is a limit.
The science of shopping, preparation, cooking and serving
can be fun and open discussions as to why parents or guardians
only purchase certain foods or why parents or guardians
shop at certain stores. Understanding and comprehension
come when a child applies what they are learning to real
world situations.

Just think what your child may be applying when they are
learning to connect the pieces of STEAM that are filled with
events that allow for increased blood pressure or an increase
in blood sugar content. Why candy can be dangerous not just
for teeth, but high levels of blood sugar can cause
serious issues later in life.

There are diverse games that children are playing at summer
STEAM camps like Tristan’s, the dream of Arlene Lloyd an
educator in Jacksonville, Florida and STEM/STEAM advocate.
Tristan’s Accelerated Academy is incorporating STEAM has
found a connection to learning, growing and fun this summer.
Involvement of skills related to STEM, STEAM, and STREAM are
not limited to just science and those areas that kids
expect academically.

Education allows for the accumulation of information, facts,
access to data, students still need to learn how to apply
these to real life experiences especially money. Parents
must understand that value of “exposure,” the purpose of
application and implementation is valuable.
The first teacher is the parent, but if the parent is also
lacking in information that makes a dangerous situation,
because ignorant parents, create ignorant children and
this creates a generational problem of ignorance or lack
of knowledge.

During the summer children should be visiting museums,
library events, cultural activities, field trips.
Summer camps fill a void in learning gaps and exposure.
In this world of Technology, Drones, Social Media, Virtual
Reality, scientific break through, medical discoveries,
etc, children must be prepared especially children of color.
There does not have to be any learning gaps when parents
involve summer camps with structure, capable educators and
a vision for improving the lives of children.
2017 is still a new beginning to bring about a better future,
and the summer of 2018 will again bring rise to choosing
where to put children for learning and exposure.
Careers are not just available because children like them,
they must grow to respect and appreciate the sacrifice
and hard work it takes to advance in careers and the
education required.

Parents of color and children of color, make sure you’re
preparing yourself for future learning and being an
agent of change that promotes generational change for
the better, STEAM, STEM and STREAM have the capacity to
change lives if applied the right way.

Fathers Continue To Teach Your Children in 2017

by William Jackson, #MyQuestToTeach
Father, Community Activist, Educator

Fathers this school year or 2017/2018 empower
your children with social and personal skills that
will prepare them for a changing and dynamic
world in and out of school.
Teach children to think for themselves and make
personal decisions even if their friends are opposite
and oppose them.
Even if your children are met with bullying and
criticism, your children must be prepared mentally,
emotionally and with social skills that help them
not only “code switch,” but adapt and excel in
diverse environments.
Teach your children to be accountable and respon-
sible, teach them to be independent thinkers
and how important their dreams are. There are
many lessons to learn by your children so be
patient and purposeful, be aware that sometimes
your children think different and react different
than their peers and their friends.
Not all children learn to tie their shoes at the same
time.
I still teach kindergarten and first grade students
at my school how to tie shoes and even occasionally
second graders.
Not all children stop sucking their fingers at the same
time. Patience, purpose and prayer does work even in
the 21st century so even teach your child why prayer
is important not just how to pray.
Every child is different, every smile means something
different, tears do not all mean the same thing and
kids interpret the world differently so fathers must
listen and guide their children to be the best they
can be, not just always the way fathers want them
to be.
We must teach our children patience, and be patient
with them. Teach our children compassion and be
compassionate, we have to show empathy and
sympathy and even kindness. If you don’t  think so,
think about how you treat their mother, because
your sons and even daughters will treat their mothers,
grandmothers, future boy friends/girl friends and
spouses the way you demonstrate and teach.

Suggestions for fathers………..
1.Fathers don’t allow yourself and your children to
grow stale or stagnant, always embrace learning and
opportunities to attend community, civic and even
political events to teach your children on a broad
scale of duty and community activism.
2. Fathers teach your children to stay away from
people who hate on others, gossip, conspire against,
plot and plan to embarrass or even destroy. Those
that hate on others often have low self esteem and
will turn on those that side with them eventually.
3. Fathers teach your children that sex is not a conquest
or a quick one sided pleasure. There are consequences
and reactions to having multiple sexual partners.
4. Father teach your children that sex is not a tool to
get what you want in life. That the mind and emotions
are changed forever when involved in sexual encounters
with multiple people.
Not everyone is emotionally ready for sex at the same
time.
5. Fathers teach your children what comes out of their
mouth defines them and Brands them. The mouth can
speak life or death.
6. Fathers teach your daughters they don’t need a sugar
daddy, pimp daddy or friend with benefits to make it in
life. Having multiple “baby daddies” is nothing to be
proud of.
7. Fathers teach your sons and daughters that before
they get into someones bed, be sure to get into their
head to see if they are being used. There is a personal
responsibility when having sex.
8. Fathers teach your sons not to use women for sex,
drugs, money or create illegitimate children that they
have no plans to support and love.
9. Fathers teach your children how to love, how to
respect and the value of morals and values. Teach your
children the empowerment of education not just in the
classroom, but to be life-long learners.
10. Fathers teach your children the dangers of “playing”
with drugs and alcohol. Not everyone can tolerate getting
drunk and getting high.
11. Fathers show up at your children’s school at least
4 times a school year, show them better than you can
tell them you value their education by eating lunch with
them and going on field trips.
12. Fathers if all lives matter they should learn that from
birth.
13. Fathers teach your children about the true meaning
of hate, racism, bigotry, prejudice and bias. Do not
sugarcoat it.
14. Fathers teach your children they will not stay children
forever, but as they grow to enjoy life and living. To learn
skills that build their character and value for life.
15. Fathers watch the news with your children at least
twice a week and explain events around the world. Get
them to talk about what they think and feel.
16. Fathers teach your children no one is perfect and to
strive to be the best they can be not something from a
story or game.
17. Fathers reflect on the hard lessons you learned and
share them with you children. Teach them that lessons
can help them to grow even if they struggle.
18. Fathers teach your children that struggles and
challenges are a part of life and that they can survive and
grow from them.
19. Fathers teach your children the value of prayer, why
prayer is helpful. Guide their learning in ministry not
just attending church.
20 Fathers join a support group, mentoring group for
yourself.

Your Selfies, DP and Taco Picts Can Hurt You

Your Selfies, DP and Taco Picts Can Hurt You
by William Jackson, My Quest To Teach @wmjackson

children 3

The more I speak at conferences, churches and with
youth groups the more I see that information needs
to be shared with parents and their children.
Too many parents are clueless that their children are
involved in Sexting, Cyberbullying, and even digital
Pimping. Yes I said digital Pimping. The use of  Social
Media to post personal pictures, tantalizing videos,
stimulating sexual photos and senseless party picts
may be fun and exciting, but they can hurt a teen and
young adults e-reputation, e-personality and potentially
their credit score.

You can forget being involved in politics, ministry and in
some cases community service. If you “equipment” is posted
for everyone to see that is almost and death sentence for
community dreams. Employers, educational institutions
and even the military have the capability to check Social
Media platforms to look for and find potentially harmful
information that can stop college entrance, put a stop on
receiving scholarships and internships, even prevent starting
a promising career in a dream job making millions.

Parents should learn the terminology their children are
using online to stop potential problems before they happen,
giving their children a Smartphone is not very bright without
talking about expectations for behaviors and actions.
It is almost like giving the keys of their car to a unlicensed
driver with no experience and no insurance. The Internet
contains the worst and the best of human information,
but youth, teens and young adults will ultimately be attracted
to the parts that are unhealthy and potentially dangerous.

The lure of excitement is more powerful than common sense.
Sexting is a dangerous activity that children are participating in,
they lack the maturity to understand that as a boy sending a
(DP) “dick pic” or a girl sending a (Taco) or vagina pict has
consequences that may involve law enforcement and being
accused in child porn.

Their reputations can be destroyed and that DP or Taco will
never go away because information is backed up, archived and
stored on servers someplace. Traditional laws did not have to
address the Sexting and child porn of the last 10 to 15 years,
because of the Internet Congress has passed legislation
to cover these issues and jails contain men and women
caught in child porn and prostitution rings.
Parents need to understand they have a moral and ethical
responsibility to talk to their children to set expectations, to
reinforce values and morals about their conduct and actions
online. The online world has dangers and tragedies seen when
kids are kidnapped, sexually assaulted or sold as sex slaves
when enticed to meet strangers away from home.

Sexting; is the sending and receiving of sexually explicit
photos and/or text using cell phones with digital cameras.
USA Today has reported in past issues that the percentage
of men admitted to sending a DP is increasing:  those surveyed
because they were asked for one, others they wanted to turn
the other person on. Other reasons flirting and to get the other
person to send one back. Teen girls have reported it is important
to “checking out the junk” to see how real it is because the
imagination can be deceptive and wrong and all boys lie
about the size they have. “It is the imagination part of sexting
that mainly attracts women to it,” USA Today 2012 and the
thrill for guys.

2

Studies conducted by the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University,
published in the journal Sexual Health reported No Privacy exists
in cyberspace and that those that Sext have no idea who is looking
at them in the world and have their personal information.
During my presentations over the years with community groups,
youth, teens and young adult groups and even at the international
Preventing Crime In The Black Community I speak realistically to
youth, teens, and young adults about the potential dangers and
future effects of Sexting. It is not romantic, it is not sexy, it is
not what they think when the image is spread to a whole school
or the football team, or basketball team or even in their church.

Too many young people still are under the idea that their pictures
will be deleted when they break up with that boy or girl they are
dating, but the hospitals and even cemeteries show that is not
the case when youth, teens and young adults try to or successfully
commit suicide because their sexting pictures or video are
spread to others and they are harassed and embarrassed at
school, in church and in their communities.

Parents need to have these conversations and Google their
children to see what is out there in photos, videos and sharing
sites, be friends with them online and if necessary contact your
cell phone provider and see who they are texting and sending
and receiving photos and videos with. Be proactive not reactive…..

It is important to be proactive before an incident happens and
law enforcement comes knocking on your door and takes
everyone’s devices for an investigation that will be embarrassing
for you at work, in church and in your community. Youth, teens
and young adults convicted of child porn must register as a
sex offender and this will destroy their freedoms social and
professional. Changes that will affect the whole family for
years to come.

A Girls Journey Into Social Media

A Girls Journey Into Social Media
by William Jackson and Breyonna Fox
My Quest to Teach

JIW Group Photo.jpg

Journey Into Womanhood a wonderful collaboration of
young ladies from elementary age to high school held a
workshop  dedicated to teaching about Social Media
safety and responsibility, the prevention of Cyberbullying
and the problems Sexting causes in destroying a girls
reputation and potentially their future career choices.

Elexia Coleman the director and visionary of the program
provides educational,  intellectual, culturally bonding and
community experiences that help girls and young  ladies
grow and blossom in an environment that is encouraging
and engaging.

JIW is an opportunity for girls and young ladies to experience
presentations on multiple levels of activity; professionals like
William Jackson and his intern Breyonna Fox talked to the
ladies on serious subjects that potentially influence decisions
that can have social and career influences.

20170211_101647(0).jpg
Asya and Breyonna Fox

Ms. Fox spoke on her experiences on being bullied and how
Sexting can destroy lives and involve law enforcement.
Ms. Fox shared how girls in high school are under the false
ideas that Sexting is glamorous until their photos are shared
with others that where not intended to see them because of
breaking up with friends and trying to impress a boy or girl.

Boys are involved in Sexting as well and can suffer social and
criminal investigation. There are legal issues that could result
in charges of pornography and child endangerment that may
follow a boy or girl through their life. Ms. Fox shared that  each
girl present  should have personal self-confidence and
self-respect. “The unfortunate reality is that  girls and women
have committed suicide because of Bullying and Sexting.”
Breyonna Fox

william-jackson

William Jackson a teacher in the public school system and a
Professor at Edward Waters College shares with the young
ladies that there is nothing a boy or man can provide that is
more important than personal respect and pride. Through
education a young lady and woman can achieve great things
above and beyond the material things a person like a boy or
girl can give them.

The title of the workshop, “How to be Dope and Responsible
on Social Media,” is available to other organizations that work
with youth, teens and young  adults.  Mr. Jackson speaks at the
international conference Preventing Crime in the Black
Community on preventing bullying, cyberbullying, the power
of incorporating STEM in  education and many aspects of
Social Media.

Volunteers are key to the success of JIW program that will be
celebrating the end of another program year on
Sunday, April 9th  2017 at their annual banquet. JIW is a 501c3
program and accepts donations to provide services to the
participants that will have life-long influence to help the
young ladies grow into future leaders in business, finance,
commerce, education and other careers that fulfill dreams.

The rewarding results of JIW can be seen in the community
involvement of girls and young ladies like Taylor Richardson
#AstronautStarBright, she is working to become an astronaut
and travel to Mars and back,  Taylor and her mom are working
to help girls and women in Jacksonville to see the movie
“Hidden Figures.” They were both invited by the Obama
administration to the White House premiere. Sitting with
current and past NASA astronauts, the actors of Hidden
Figures, First Lady Michelle Obama and other dignitaries.

20170211_101554

Taylor along with other young ladies are doing extraordinary
things in the community and bringing awesome media and news
reports of the great contributions young ladies are providing in
Jacksonville, Florida.

Sponsorship’s and donations are welcomed by JIW to help
continue the works they do in the community that influence
positive directions and accomplishments.
