The 8th Annual FlBlogCon 2018 is no different than the previous
years, each year is awesome, informative, enlightening, fun,
engaging and a inspiring learning experience. Bess Auer knows how
to create an environment of PLC, PLN and PLF engagement.
Professional Learning (Community, Networking and Family).
A seasoned educator, she combines content creators of diverse
backgrounds that are relevant, current and can share
information that is instantly applicable to personal and business.

One of the valuable sessions at the Florida Blogging Conference
was based on Time Management – Diana Griffith (Content for Beginners,
Templates, Ideas and More). The understanding of how valuable
your time is and the importance of managing it.
The words, “time is money,” can be translated to time is
the difference between success and failure. Managing your
time can reduce stress, anxiety and apprehension when your
feeling overwhelmed. Managing your time can mean meeting
professional and personal deadlines or creating an environment
of making excuses for not completing important tasks.

One of the struggles sometimes for Bloggers, Vbloggers and
Podcasters is finding time to manage your ideas to put into
content development. Taking the time to think, create, write
and develop content that shares your passion and purpose.
There are tools, Apps and assistants like Trello, Asana, Toggl,
Google Calendar and Insightly to help you manage your time
and develop content.

There are strategies that help to keep you engaged, but time
and managing time is key. Day to day events and activities
seem to distract you, engage you, move you, motivate you
and even seem to drain you. Managing is important and
valuable to help you stay focused and productive.

Some strategies are to plan ahead and build on to create a
time buffer; think past the seasons, holidays and events to
build future content. That way you are ahead of the game
and reaching out 3 to 4 months in advance with content.

This works well for writing to an editorial calendar and
staggering projects. Magazines, newspapers and other
media plan months in advance to keep up and keep ahead
of the interests of their readers and viewers. Time is important
because of the opportunity to get on everyone’s’ calendar
or radar when planning out to the future. People have schedules
that demand their time, as a content creator get on their
schedule.

Editorial Tools like Buffer, Hootsuite, CoSchedule (WordPress),
Tailwind (Pintrest), Later (Instagram) and Google Calendar
help you to post your content at different times and to different
platforms. This builds a visual element, so people know what
you are doing, the value of your Brand and the empowerment
of your content.

Planning can help your SEO, because you have time to look
at all your content elements and take account on revisions,
corrections and direction of thoughts.
As a content developer you should understand that people
will view your content at different times during the day and week.
Connecting to readers and viewers means spreading out your
content to post at different times. You may need a tasking tool
to help you write to a schedule which helps you manage access
to content. If you incorporate photos, photo editing tools to
help you edit that photo that may be too dark, to light, etc.
The visual element is important.

Your content is evaluated by SEO – Search Engine
Optimization with the photos and video you post.
The many tools available are mostly free, they provide a
flexibility for the content creator to always move forward.
Technology builds connections to establish relationships and
empowers people to guide future and potential collaborations.
Applying skills, sharing knowledge and working to build
content that can potentially change the world.

Research which tools benefit what you want to accomplish
and build your Brand. Do diligence is important to help you
grow beyond your expectations and strengthen your Brand.

Be mindful in your planning that each reader and viewer has
a time limit to be engaged and be respectful that you content
should matter to your readers.

Being great on Social Media is not a thing of chance,
it is the ability to be comfortable in your digital
life as a content creator, digital innovator, thought
leader, graphic artist or even a web developer.

It means that it is ok to have fun on the web and to
integrate yourself into your product even on a digital
level. Too many people lose the excitement of creating
content that will be read, viewed, studied, listened to
and watched. Your audience changes as access and
platforms change, so why not be flexible and adaptable
and fun.

Providing something that brings people to you so you can
teach, preach, inspire, encourage and engage. It takes
work to create great content, so the value comes in the
quality not the quantity of your content. In my over
10 years as a blogger I try to meet the needs of my
readers not just my need to write.

SEO (Search Engine Optomization) is not just the ticket
to get exposure and followers. To get more views or likes,
WOM or Word of Mouth is still important and should always
be a viable strategy to build your Brand. Search Engine
Optimization is computer based, technology cannot always
build relationships. Building relationships is the key
to building and developing a consistent following.

There is a great deal of work, blood, sweat and I’m sure even
tears that goes into making this conference one of the best
conferences and experiences a person can have. The energy is
phenomenal and the access to talented, creative and innovative
people is not by chance. Bess Auer and her team has strategically
planned, mapped and coordinated this conference to meet the needs
of about 500 if not more attendees. The speakers are not just
nationally known they are internationally known and respected.

Attending FlBlogCon is not just a moment of a day, it is a
movement of technological empowerment, engagement and
collaboration that will inspire, excite, motivate and help embrace
digital tools that are current and futuristic. There will be many
opportunities to learn how to apply and integrate immediately
the use of tools, platforms, ideas, and concepts that build
digital innovation in multiple ways from business, education,
the arts, science and even in the areas of STEAM and STREAM.

As a FlBlogCon attendant since 2013 here are my
“21 Reasons Your Content Should Be Great after Attending FlBlogCon.”

1. FlBlogCon allow you to attract diverse readers and viewers.
Embracing diversity is a plus because people connect with
what they relate to, fills their needs and is relevant.
2. Most viewers will be women because women are the fastest
growing demographic building online businesses.
This means women of all colors, cultures, ages and generational
backgrounds are potential thought and digital leaders.
3. If you want a broad spectrum of followers visual
appeal is very important. Make sure you integrate dynamic colors,
coordination and attractiveness.
4.International markets look to promote content that make a
connection. FlBlogCon has international appeal and influence
in national and international views.
5.If your looking to monetize your content expand your Brand
to new markets that provide unique services.
6. One person cannot do it all so be ready to hire people with
dynamic skills.
7. Use video, Instagram and Twitter to share and expand your reach.
Don’t be afraid to experiment with photos, video and text content.
8. Submit to speak at FlBlogCon and attend Meetups, workshops,
seminars and other venues. WordCamps, Bar Camps, EdCamps (for educators)
and other tech conferences allow for dynamic networking.
9. Always have business cards available, make sure there is a
current photo of yourself and have your “elevator pitch” ready.
10. Hire a graphic artist to create your logo. People are visual
use that to your advantage. Don”t be cheap on magnifying your image.
11. Be a sponsor and promoter of FlBlogCon. Share the conference on
your Social Media platforms and use your tools to show what you are
learning and importantly how to apply that knowledge.
12. Join the Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau,
get out and get involved in the community you service.
13. Be a speaker on talk shows, Podcasts to share your knowledge.
Give back to the same community you market to, don’t always take.
14. Start your own Podcast with guests.
15. See where you can help your church of ministry with their
connectivity and content.
16. Take a Social Media class yourself and build your knowledge.
17. Offer Social Media classes with certificates when completed.
18. Keep your profiles current, relevant and diverse. Who are you
associated with, who are you photographed with and who is in a
business that can help you grow.
19. Encourage, inspire and meet new people. Being an introvert is
not beneficial any more.
20. Embrace diversity in your company and your associations.

Growing into an Editor – Publisher – Writer – Content Creator
Thought Leader – Video Blogger – Fashion Blogger
Daddy or Mommy Blogger – Intellectual – Author – Developer
and all around Geek and Blerd takes more than a desire to be
famous or infamous.

The opportunities available for those who have the desire to
grow into their passions of blogging. The possibilities  are
endless and unlimited to share content with like minded people.
The power of blogging allows the writer to connect with others
that share their passions, goals and mission to build relationships
and create communities, either digital or real.

There is potential power in creating digital content that can build a
Brand and establish a person’s Niche. Being empowered with a
passion to create content must be followed by a plan to share and
eventually market that content.

Many people are learning how to be a journalist in dynamic areas
they are passionate about. In my Educational Technology and Social
Media class at Edward Waters College students blog each week on
what they are passionate about. They are reinforcing their writing
skills and building their literacy skills, reading abilities and increasing
their collaboration opportunities.

In the educational environment it is important to understand that
writing can build skills that can be used in business, commerce and
finance. Learning why writing is important and how to apply writing
abilities are vital to success in many careers. Students in HBCUs
or Historically Black Colleges and Universities are learning that
applying the skill of writing is allowing them opportunities in fields
not thought of before.

Blogging is not exclusive to writing: Tumblr, Instagram, Microblogging
on Twitter, Podcasting and even Vblogging or video blogging with
YouTube or Vimeo. The content is the glue that bonds the reader to
the creator and creates a relationship based on supply and demand.
Supplying content demanded by the readers.

Students from Edward Waters College will be attending
for the first time the FlBlogCon. Provided a unique opportunity
that will be engaging, interactive, eye opening and
transformative in how they see the integration of technology outside
of college and education.

The process of becoming a successful blogger seems
daunting sometimes, but is necessary to separate
from the pack that seems to imitate, immolate, copy
and simulate others. To separate yourself from the
pack it is important to be authentic and unique.
What do you have to offer that others do not?

Choose your Topics:
what do you want to write about?
what is your background knowledge?
what do you want to accomplish ?
who do you want to connect with?
what are your associations?
are you involved in your community?
do you volunteer?

Do you show your Passion:
Topics are vast and unending, but what are you
knowledgeable about and passionate about?
When people talk to you, you should not have to
tell them your passions, they should see it in
your eyes, mannerisms, your expressions and your
behaviors online and off.

Create a Blogging Calendar:
how often are you going to blog?
when do you want your posts to be published?
when are you able to sit down and write?
do you need to do research?
are you going to integrate video?
are you going to expand to a Podcast, Facebook Life,
Periscope or other Social Media platform?

Make Your Content Shareable:
how can people access your content in SoLoMo
environments (Social Local Mobile) and on what devices?
what connections do you implement to allow readers to share?
do you optimize your photos and images for size and type?
do you encourage sharing?
sharing is caring?

Analyze your Analytics:
take the time to study your data…
apply the information to expanding your blog in
diverse markets…
what does the data say about who your visitors are?
where are they coming from?
which tool meets your needs the best for which demographic?

Quality or Quantity:
when is it best to work on a blog?
when is it best to post a blog?
how many do you write at a time?
you should always go for quality not quantity
take the time to write, re-write and edit

Get your own Domain Name:
this is your address, your personal site for
posting content that represents you.
your domain name is part of your Brand so choose carefully

Develop Your Brand:
what are you known for?
what do you want people to learn from you?
your Brand is your promise for quality content

Uniqueness:
people look for unique content that they
can identify with and follow….
what do you have to offer in unique content?
build your followers…

What is your mission for Your Blog:
you have to determine the direction of your
blogging..
do you have a style?
do you have a growing relationship with readers?
are you being published someplace?
are you planning to make money or do you want
to provide just information ?

Florida Blogging Conference should help you
answer these questions and more. Figure out
ahead of time what sessions you want to attend
and how you are going to apply the knowledge
you gain.
Attendance is powerful, but the application of
what you learn at FlBlogCon is transformational.
