Poetry Slam 2013 rhymes its way into the Jacksonville Public Library’s
main building’s Hicks Auditorium at:
303 Laura St. N. at 3 p.m.
Date: Saturday, July 13th
To test the poetic skills of teens ages 11 to 18.

evaluations of a 5-judge team with prizes awarded for first,
second and third place.

Winners will work with professionals to learn writing
techniques, recording and production processes and how
to market their talents.

The event is open to the public and free.

Young poets can register up to the day of the event.
They must have three original poems.
Poets are allowed three minutes to read one poem and may
not use props, costumes or instruments.

The event is sponsored by Jax Youth Poetry Slam, formed
to promote literacy, public awareness and critical thinking
for at-risk youth.
